SERIES RECORD
UT Arlington owns a 24-9 series record over the Mean Green... North Texas has won their last two meetings over the Mavericks including an 8-1 win last season on March 17 at Allan Saxe Field... the Mavs last win over UNT was March 26, 2008 where the Mavericks ran way with a 10-5 victory.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
NORTH TEXAS - The Mean Green (10-9) have won their last two games, one of those wins came against No. 15 Texas... it was the first win for UNT against a nationally-ranked opponent this season... at the plate, Lisa Johnson leads the team with a .385 average, connecting on 20 hits, 16 runs scored, a team high seven homers and 11 RBI... on the mound, Ashley Lail leads the team with a 5-3 record and a 2.41 ERA... in 11 appearances she has giving up 48 hits while striking out 36 batters... UNT's No. 2 pitcher Jennifer Smith (3-2) has a 3.52 ERA in 35.2 innings pitcher and leads the team with 41 K's... Wednesday night's meeting over the Mavericks will be the Mean Green's second meeting against a Southland Conference opponent.

NON-CONFERENCE GAME TO SUPPORT GOOD CAUSE
The Mavericks non-conference game over North Texas will be the third annual Strikeout Cancer Game. The Mean Green softball team has dedicated a charity game to a specific type of cancer... The first year was breast cancer, last year was bone cancer and this year is ovarian cancer... Admission is free in lieu of a cash donation. All proceeds generated from the gate and t-shirt sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society... Cynthia Rupp will throw out the first pitch on Wednesday. Cynthia is the mother of Danielle Rupp, who was a four-year letterwinner for the Mean Green from 2004-07... Cynthia was diagnosed with stage two ovarian cancer in March 1997...She went through six months of chemotherapy, and she is now eight years in remission.

Last Time Out vs. Nicholls State
Game One
Freshman Teri Lyles (7-6) took the loss for the Mavs, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while fanning four... The Mavs had trouble finding their groove at the plate, connecting on four hits and leaving seven base runners stranded. Senior Samantha Chumchal led the Mavericks offensively, connecting on her eighth double of the season in the sixth frame. Along with Chumchal, Lyles, Cara Hulme and Rebecca Collom each finished with a hit... Nicholls State knocked in a pair of runs in the bottom of the first after Meghan Gaspard led off with a single and came around to score on a Lyndsay Mesh double to left field. Mesh made it 2-0 after a double steal by the Colonels. .. NSU drove in a solo run in the fifth inning on a pair of hits and an error by the Mavs.

Game Two
With the Mavericks holding onto a 4-3 advantage heading into the sixth inning of game two, Nicholls State's bats came alive as they plated three runs on two hits, one of which was a two-run homer... The two-run home run by Audrey Wood gave the Colonels a 6-4 lead and was all they needed to record the win... The Colonels used three pitchers in the contest with relief pitcher Carlee Winkelmann picking up the victory... For the Mavs, Hulme fell to 8-6 after tossing 6.0 innings, surrendering six runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out six... This time around, the Mavs had no problem ripping the ball as they scattered 11 hits. Hulme blasted her eighth home run of the season in the third inning over the center field wall... Four Mavericks finished with multi-hit performances, including Heather Fortenberry, Rebecca Collom, Kari Karr and Courtney Zink... Karr led UT Arlington offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and driving in a pair of RBI.

Game Three
Playing in extra innings hasn't been the Mavericks friend this season as they dropped a 3-2 decision in nine innings in game three to Nicholls State on Sunday afternoon at the Colonel Softball Complex in Thibodaux, LA... The setback dropped UTA to 15-13 on the season and 6-5 in conference action... After a scoreless eighth inning and the score tied up at two apiece, UT Arlington went into the top of the ninth and went three and out while Nicholls State connected on a pair of hits in the bottom half of the frame, scoring the winning run... Teri Lyles (7-7) started on the mound for the Mavs, pitching 7.0 innings, giving up three runs (all earned) on six hits. Senior Heather Fortenberry entered the game with one out and one on in the bottom of the seventh... Fortenberry had a rough start, loading the bases but was able to work herself out of the inning with a strike out and a pop up to the shortstop... Lyles reentered in the bottom of the eighth after back-to-back walks issued by Fortenberry... Lyles ended the inning with a fly out to center... The Mavericks scattered six hits with a pair of Mavs connecting on multi-hit performances. Lyles recorded her eighth multi-hit performance of the season, going 2-for-5 with a triple, RBI and run scored. Samantha Chumchal went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk... Courtney Zink recorded her second double of the season in the fourth inning and scored following a triple to center field by Lyles, which gave UT Arlington a 2-1 advantage... Fortenberry connected on a single up the middle in the top of the first.

SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE NOTES
After sweeping Central Arkansas and winning five of six games, UT Arlington has dropped its last four consecutive games in a 5-3 loss to No. 24 Baylor and a series sweep at rival Nicholls. Last week junior Rebecca Collom led the Mavericks with a .417 batting average, connecting on at least one hit in three of the Mavs four games. Against No. 24 Baylor, Collom blasted a two-run shot over the left field wall and finished the game 2-for-3. It was Collom's fifth home run of the season. She also recorded a pair of hits on the road at Nicholls in game two. Collom recorded a .667 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage
