SOFTBALL PLAYS HOST TO UMKC IN MID-WEEK NON-CONFERENCE DOUBLE HEADER

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball is set for a mid-week non-conference meeting with UMKC at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Allan Saxe Field. The second game of the double header will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
This will be only the second meeting between the Mavs (21-11, 11-4 SLC) and Kangaroos (2-23, 0-3 Mid-Con). The first meeting between these two teams was in Las Cruces, N.M. on Feb. 11, 2005. UTA won 3-2 over UMKC to hold a one game lead in the series.
Senior Ashley Toft with a .309 batting average leads UMKC on the season. Toft also leads the Kangaroos with nine runs scored including five home runs and 12 RBI.
Junior Katie Jones leads the Mavs with a .475 batting average followed closely by freshman Heather Fortenberry with a .400 average on the season. Fortenberry has also tallied an 8-1 record on the mound for UTA.
The Mavs will continue SLC play as they travel to Lake Charles, La. to take on McNeese State this weekend. The double header is set for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday with the series finally set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
