ARLINGTON, Texas— The Maverick softball team heads to Las Cruces, New Mexico to face the New Mexico State Aggies in a three-game series.
UT Arlington is 17-16 overall and 2-4 in the Western Athletic Conference after falling in three-straight games to Louisiana Tech last weekend.
The two teams face off Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m. and will complete a double header Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. at the NMSU Softball Complex.
The first meeting of the three-game series will mark the 18th meeting between the two schools as NMSU leads the series by just one game, 9-8. The last time the Aggies and the Mavericks met was in April of 2010 when UTA defeated NMSU 4-1 in Arlington.
The Aggies are ranked second in the conference with a 23-13 overall record, while racking up five wins and just one loss in league play.
NMSU’s Staci Rodriquez and Amber Olive lead the WAC in homeruns (13) and hits (52), respectively with a team batting average of .303.
The three game series is set to begin Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m. CT
