FRISCO, Texas - UT Arlington senior Amanda Swofford was named the Southland Conference softball Hitter of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
The Buda, Texas, native led the Mavericks to a perfect 5-0 record with a two-game sweep of Prairie View A&M and a three-game conference sweep of McNeese State.
Swofford hit safely in all five games and batted .563 (9-for-16) with three homers and eight RBIs. She went deep twice in the second game of the series against the Cowgirls, including a fifth-inning grand slam.
Swofford is hitting .349 on the season with a team-best 22 RBI, 37 hits and nine home runs.
This is the second SLC weekly award for the UTA shortstop, who was also named Hitter of the Week on April 9, 2007.
