ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks will host the Texas State Bobcats in a three-game Western Athletic Conference series. A doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. Friday and will be followed by a single game at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Allan Saxe Field.
The Mavs are 17-19 overall and 2-7 in the WAC after dropping three games last weekend at New Mexico State.
"We've played Texas State before," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "It was a tough match up. I think we're both pretty evenly matched and like I've said before, it's going to come down to who blinks first."
The Mavericks faced Texas State on Feb. 24 in the Texas Shootout at San Marcos, and defeated the Bobcats 3-2 in 11 innings.
Texas State is currently 9-29 overall and 4-5 in the WAC, coming off of a 7-3 loss against Baylor in 10 innings. UTA is currently ranked first in the WAC in pitching (2.13 ERA). Senior pitcher Teri Lyles is sporting a 1.73 ERA.
Thie Mavericks have been on the road for two weeks and are looking forward to being back on their home field.
"It's exciting," Lyles said. "We're all happy to not be traveling. We're home in our own backyard so we're excited."
Following the series, the Mavs will travel to San Jose, Calif., to face San Jose State, which is currently 29-13 and 7-2.
