ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball is eager to get back in action after having the past weekend off. The Mavs are set for a mid-week non-conference double header with the University of Tulsa. It will be the tenth meeting between the Mavs and Golden Hurricane. UTA holds a 6-3 lead in the series and a 3-1 lead in game played in Arlington.
The Golden Hurricane is coming off a three game series with C-USA foe Marshall last weekend. Tulsa won two-of-three to improve its conference record to 9-8 and 25-23 overall on the season.
Freshman Jackie Lawrence leads the Hurricane with a .469 average and is followed closely by junior Sara Dyer with a .422 batting average and six home runs on the season.
The Mavs won their last game in five innings 8-0 over Centenary to improve to 28-11 on the season. Junior Katie Jones continues to lead UTA with a .472 batting average and 12 home runs. Amanda Brown has been coming on strong hitting a home run in the Mavs last three games as the designated player, driving the team home run total to 45 for the season.
UTA will return to SLC action as it travels to Hammond, La. for a three game series with Southeastern Louisiana. The series will kick-off with the first game of a double header at 3 p.m. on Saturday and conclude with a single game on Sunday at noon.
