The UT Arlington softball team moved back into first place after taking two games from Stephen F. Austin last weekend in Nacogdoches, Texas. UT Arlington improved its overall record to 29-16 overall and 16-5 in conference action.
This week the Mavericks face No. 3 Texas on Tuesday, April 19 in Austin, Texas then return home for a weekend series against Sam Houston State. First pitch against the Longhorns is set for 6:30 p.m. at McCombs Field in Austin, Texas.
The victories against the Ladyjacks marked the sixth time the Mavericks have won a series this season.
Junior Charne Office led the Mavericks offensively, going 4-for-11 with three doubles and four RBI. Office finished the series batting .364 and improved her conference batting average to .338.
Pitchers Callie Collins (17-6) and Teri Lyles (11-9) each record a pair of wins in the series. Collins leads the Mavericks and the Southland with a 1.30 ERA in 161 innings pitched. Lyles has a 3.14 ERA in 118 pitched.
Guided by Collins and Lyles, the Mavericks pitching staff is at the top of the Southland Conference with their 1.88 ERA and 122 strikeouts.
As a team, the Mavericks have out-scored their opponents 193-122, out-hit their opponents 332-257 and have connected on 30 home runs.

The Longhorns lead the all-time series against the Mavericks 21-2...
