ARLINGTON, Texas-- The UT Arlington softball team travels to California to take on the San Jose State Spartans for three-game Western Athletic Conference Series beginning Friday.
The Mavericks are coming off a win from the three-game series against Texas State after losing the first two games at home, putting their record at 3-9 in conference and 18-21 overall. The Mavericks away record is 0-6 in conference and 1-7 overall.
"We know that we can compete with anyone in the country if we play our game well," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "We need to make sure we show up, and minimize the errors and hit in those quality situations like we did last Saturday."
UTA will face a tough competitor in San Jose State, which is second in the WAC standings with a conference record of 9-3 and 31-14 overall. San Jose State pitcher Amanda Pridmore leads the WAC conference in total strikeouts with 200 in 181.0 innings pitched.
The Mavericks also lead the WAC in team pitching with a 2.06 ERA over a combined 271.1 innings pitched.
The three-game series against San Jose State will begin Friday at 5 p.m. CT and a doubleheader will follow Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
