Lake Charles, La. - The UT Arlington entered the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed and looked to take down No. 4 Stephen F. Austin but were unable to do so, falling 7-0 at the Cowgirls Diamond in Lake Charles, La.

Cara Hulme (13-14) took the mound for the Mavs, pitching five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits. Cassandra Nordie finished the game, pitching the final inning, allowing one run on two hits.

The Mavericks scattered three hits that came from senior Jaimee Stinson, Whitney Simpson and Erika LeFlore.

Stephen F. Austin knocked in a pair of runs in the bottom of the second after Ashley Struchtemeye scored on a Benet Higgs single and Jessica Aranass crossed home plate on an error by the center fielder.

The Ladyjacks added a run in the fourth following a walk-off home run by Kim Daley, giving SFA a 3-0 advantage.

UTA struggled offensively throughout the game grounding into four consecutive double plays. SFA's four double-plays tied the conference tournament record. Stephen F. Austin on the other hand had no problem scoring runs as Struchtemeye connected on a three-run homer in the fifth frame, extending their lead to 6-0.

The Ladyjacks recorded their final run of the game in the sixth when Briana Bishop homered over the center field wall.

UT Arlington will play next in game six at 1:30 p.m. on Friday against the loser of today's 4 p.m. matchup between Texas State and Stephen F. Austin.
