Lady Mavs Add 9 Signees

The University of Texas at Arlington Head Softball Coach Debbie Hedrick announced the signing of 9 student - athletes to letters of intent recently.
The 2004 - 05 UTA softball signees are: Kristin Moore (Allen, Texas/High); Sonja Wilson (Texarkana College); KariAnne Dean (Corsicana, Texas/High); Katherine Jones (Cedar Hill, Texas/High); Kathleen Bradshaw (Mineola, Texas/High); Lacey Leadbetter (Georgetown, Texas/High); Elizabeth Fuentes (Kingwood, Texas/High); April Clougherty (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch High School); Amanda Swofford (Buda, Texas/Jack C. Hays High School).
Moore was voted to first team all-district in consecutive seasons in 2003 - 04 and won district in both years as well. She also received the Allen High School offensive MVP in 2003.
Wilson was all-district pitcher in 2001 - 02 at Whitehouse High School. A transfer from Texarkana College, Wilson set the school record for wins (43) strikeouts (234) and led her team to their first regional championship, and JUCO World Series.
Dean is a first team all-district recipient for four consecutive seasons and was awarded offensive player of the year as a freshman and defensive player of the year as a senior in high school.
Jones received all-district honors in consecutive seasons for pitching as a junior and senior and was nominated defensive player of the year as a junior and team MVP her senior year.
Bradshaw was awarded all-district honors her freshman and sophomore year as first team at first base. Won offensive player of the year as a junior and defensive player of the year as a senior.
Leadbetter, a four-year first team all - district player during high school transferred from Hill College where she earned outstanding softball athlete of the year.
Fuentes received all-district honors in pitching as a freshman and first team all - district from sophomore to senior, as well as the district MVP her senior year.
Clougherty was awarded newcomer of the year as a freshman and earned all-district notoriety every year in high school in addition to all state in 2001 and 2004.
Swofford, a four-year letterman in high school, also earned consecutive MVP honors in addition to first team all-district acknowledgements.
