ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington softball coach Kristie Fox sat down to discuss her philosophy on building a successful program, facility improvement, community involvement and more with UTAMavs.com.
A few excerpts from that interview:
Vision for the program
"We're going to start off with a clean plate, brand new. We're going to be really aggressive and we're gonna be really focused on preparation, and using this fall to get to know each other and the sky is the limit. Obviously my goal is the World Series, and to get there we have to win conference and continue to just play well."
Moving into the WAC and Sun Belt
"Those conferences are both strong softball conferences and the winner goes to a regional and an opportunity for an at-large bid. A lot of that is going to depend on your nonconference schedule and if we're aggressive in both of those things, we have a good opportunity to start making regionals."
"I want players that are going to see what UT Arlington has to offer and truly want to be a Maverick. I'm going to sell them on the good things we have, but if they don't want to be a part of this program, then we don't want them to be a part of this program either. So we want people who are really enthusiastic and see what we have to offer and they're ready to join the success were having."
