ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington softball hosts two tournaments at Allan Saxe Field as part of the 2014 season. The Mavericks will also take part in tournaments in St. George, Tucson, Lubbock and San Diego.

"I am really excited for the opportunity my team will have to travel and host some of the best teams in the country this year," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "There are definitely teams that will challenge us and I'm ready to see this group of women rise to the occasion."

The Mavericks start their season in St. George, Utah for BYU's tournament before heading home to host back-to-back tournaments on their home field.

Following the home tournaments, UTA heads to Arizona, Texas Tech and San Diego State to complete its non-conference games.

The Mavs will be facing several notable programs in non-conference competition. Arizona is one of the most recognized softball programs boasting eight national titles. Nine of UTA's opponents saw regional competition last season.

The competition is spread across five conferences with the PAC 12, Big 12, WAC, Southland and Mountain West.

UTA enters its first season in the Sun Belt Conference at home against South Alabama, which was a regional finalist last season. Three SBC teams graced the Top 25 as well as three teams made it to the Super Regionals.

The Sun Belt season features Louisiana-Lafayette with the conference tournament on May 7-10 at Alfred and Helen Lamson Park.

The Mavericks return five starters and welcome eight newcomers for Fox's second season. The Mavs also return All-WAC honoree Nina Villanueva who hit .483 throughout conference play.
