UT Arlington dropped a pair of matches to ranked competition over the weekend in Tulsa.
The Mavericks (3-3) fell to No. 53 Kansas State 5-2 on Saturday and were beaten 7-0 by No. 20 Tulsa on Sunday. Both matches were played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
"Two really tough matches," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "Even though we did not get the results we wanted, we take away hard-fought battles which will help us the rest of the way."
The Mavericks picked up two victories in singles against the Wildcats. No. 3 Verena Scott defeated Ana Gomez Aleman in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. No. 4 Giada D’ortona down Marketa Trousilova 6-4, 6-4.
Against Tulsa, No. 1 singles Maria Martinez-Romero went to a third set tiebreaker in falling to 78th-ranked Anastasia Erofeeva 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).
