ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's tennis defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday afternoon 4-1 at the UTA Tennis Center.
"I'm proud of the way we were able to turn it around in singles," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "Our girls did a great job staying focus and playing their game. Corpus came in after a big win against SMU yesterday and we felt that during doubles, but then singles was all about us."
The Islanders jumped out to an early lead, winning the doubles point at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to start the match.
UTA sophomore Elizabeth Thoms competed at the No. 1 singles position and took down senior Stefania Nicolae 6-0, 6-1.
