ARLINGTON, Texas—The UT Arlington women defeated Air Force 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.
“It was a great battle,” UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. “Air Force is a great team. We were up 3-0 and they fought to the end.
“I’m proud of our freshman Elizabeth who clinched against Air Force in a third set tie breaker.”
The Mavericks picked up their first win of the season improving to 1-2 overall. UTA started strong winning the doubles point heading into singles competition up 1-0.
The Mavs took the first two singles before Air Force went on a run to get three points and tie the match, but UTA was able to pull through and finished the match 4-3.
The women are back on the court Saturday, Feb. 23 as the Mavs take on the Cowgrils of No. 41 Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
