ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington's women's tennis squad improved its record to 5-3 after dropping Centenary College, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.

Marketa Cizova and Daniela Novakova paired up to defeat Anja Schmidt and Heather Kelley, 8-1, at the top doubles spot. At the No. 2 position Monika Peciulionyte and Simri van Rooyen teamed for an 8-1 win over Christine Majchrowicz and Brandy Smith while Anete Rozkalne and Jitka Vetrovcova earned an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.

Schmidt earned the only point for Centenary with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Cizova in the top singles position. Peciulionyte earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Majchrowicz in the two hole while Novakova picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win in the three spot. At the No. 4 position Rozkalne dropped Smith, 6-1, 6-0. Vetrovcova picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win in the five hole while Gretel Hach dropped Mantooth, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 position.

The Lady Mavericks return to action when league play begins on March 6. UTA will host Northwestern State for a Southland Conference match at 10 a.m.
