No. 63 Mavericks dominate against Northwestern State

Arlington, Texas - The No. 63 UT Arlington women's tennis team continued to dominate in the Southland Conference winning a 6-1 decision over last year's regular-season and tournament champion Northwestern State.
The Mavericks improved their overall record to 5-2 and 2-0 in Southland action.
UTA dropped the doubles point, falling in two of the three matches but came back strong in singles play winning all six flights.
Daiana Negreanu and Natalia Mayuk dropped an 8-6 decision in the No. 2 flight against Andrea Nedorostova and Martina Rubesova. Maria Martinez-Romero and Nikola Matovicova were the lone Mavericks to record a win in doubles play. The duo recorded an 8-3 win against Adna Curukovic and Kathrin Lange in the No. 3 position.
Despite a Lady Demons lead of 1-0, the Mavericks had no problems taking care of business in singles action. UTA got their revenge from last season loss by winning all six flights.
Negreanu recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win against Bazhanova in the top flight while Aqvist picked up a 6-3. 6-2 win over Curukovic in the No. 2 position.
Martinez-Romero continues to dominate in singles play and snapped Rubesova 23-match win streak in the No. 3 flight. The junior collected a 6-3, 2-6, and 6-3 win.
Mayuk notched a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Lange in the No. 4 spot while Matovicova recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win against Nedorostova in the No. 5 position.
D'ortona wrapped up the No. 6 flight with an easy 6-2, 6-3 win against Schulz.
The Mavericks will take a break from conference action to match up against Xavier on Tuesday, March 8. Match time is set for 11:30 p.m. at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
