Women Remain Perfect in Conference with 5-2 Win Over Texas State

Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team stretched their win streak to five after recording a 5-2 win on the road over Texas State at the Bobcat Tennis Center. The Mavericks improved to 5-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the Southland Conference.

The Mavs started their 1 p.m. match with doubles action with UTA recording all three flights and the point.

No. 1 doubles team, Klara Jagosova and Daiana Negreanu notched a 9-7 win over Andrea Giraldo and Melissa Hadad. Collecting their fourth straight doubles win was tandem Monika Hadvigerova and Katarina Micochova. The duo recorded an 8-5 victory against Gabriela Rojas and Mariana Perez in the No. 2 spot.

Nikola Matovicova and Maria Martinez-Romer wrapped up doubles action with a 9-8 win over Nyssa Peele and Kiki Kruse in the No. 3 position. The victory was Matovicova and Martinez-Romer's fourth straight win.

In singles action, UTA posted wins in the No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 positions. Jagosova suffered a 6-3, 6-1 setback in the top spot in the lineup to Giraldo. Hadvigerova picked up her fifth straight singles win over Hadad with a final score of 6-1, 4-6, and 6-3 at the No. 2 position.

Micochova took care of the No. 3 flight, handing Rojas a 6-3, 6-2 loss. Martinez-Romer defeated Perez at the No. 4 position with a score of 6-2, 6-0, improving her win streak to five games.

Negreanu collected a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Kruse in the No. 5 spot while Matovicova falling in the No. 6 position to Peele, 7-6, 6-1.

 

 

UTA will take a break from conference action when they hit the road for three non-conference matchups against South Alabama (Mar. 18), Loyola Marymount (Mar. 20) and North Texas (Mar. 24). The Mavericks take on South Alabama in San Diego, CA at 1 p.m.
