Women's tennis continued winning streak against Lamar

Arlington, Texas - Playing back-to-back conferences games was no problem for the No. 63 women's tennis team as they recorded a 5-2 win against Lamar Sunday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Courts.
The win improved the Mavs to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in SLC action. The victory gave the Mavericks their fifth straight win.
UTA's doubles team recorded all three matches with ease and singles action was no different as they won four of the six flights. The Mavericks top doubles team of Daiana Negreanu and Linda Aqvist took down Mariaryeni Gutierrez and Kaltrina Harbuzi who are ranked No. 57 in the nation with final score of 8-4.
Negreanu also performed well in singles action, giving Gutierrez her first singles loss of the season in the No. 1 spot, 4-6, 6-3 and 10-5.
Maria Martinez-Romero and Nikola Matovicova handed Natalia Mayagoitia and Alicia Porte an 8-3 loss in the No. 2 position while Giada D'ortona and Natalia Mayuk recorded an 8-4 win over Helene Czudek and Diana Mendez in the No. 3 spot.
In the No. 2 spot, Aqvist collected a 6-3, 6-4 win against Harbuzi while Martinez-Romero remained perfect in singles play after recording a 6-1, 6-3 win over Porte in the No. 3 position.
Mayuk drpped a 6-0, 6-3 decision against Mayagoitia in the No. 4 spot while Katarina Mlcochova lost a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Diana Mendez in the No. 5 position.
In the No. 6 spot, D'ortona won a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Czudek.
The Mavericks will take a break from conference action and prepare for three non-conference matches beginning with a road matchup against Cal Poly on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m.
