UT-ARLINGTON HANDS SLU 5-2 WOMEN'S TENNIS LOSS

ARLINGTON, Texas...The University of Texas at Arlington won its 45th consecutive regular season Southland Conference women's tennis match Saturday, defeating Southeastern Louisiana 5-2 at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington. The Mavericks improved to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in SLC play with the victory.
The Mavericks continue to have just five healthy players, and were forced to forfeit matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, where they did not field a player. UTA still won the doubles point by sweeping the top two doubles matches. Annemarie Lenze and Anete Rozkalne defeated Inge LeGrange and Zdenka Puflerova 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and Ella Goldshuv and Jitka Vetrovcova defated SLU's Melanie Sanjuan and Justine Vosloo 8-3.
In singles matches, Lenze defeated Puflerova 6-2, 6-3 in the top position. SLU's LeGrange defeated Rozkalne in the second slot when Rozkalne had to stop the match due to illness. LeGrange won the first set 6-3 and the second set was tied 3-3 when Rozkalne had to stop. Goldshuv defeated Sanjuan 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3; Vetrovcova beat Vosloo 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4; and UTA's Gretel Hach defeated SLU's Vanessa Wong 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5.
The Mavericks return to action Sunday morning at 10 a.m. against Nicholls State at the UTA Tennis Center. Admission is free.
