Results

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team was defeated by Sam Houston State 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.

Monika Hadvigerova collected the only win for the Mavericks. As the No. 2 single, she won 6-3, 6-1 over Eleonora Kuruc.

Two other matches went the distance and fell short for UTA. Daiana Negreanu fell to Peta Taylor 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 at No. 3 and Sara Pesic battled 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot with Stasa Vujosevic.

SHSU claimed the doubles point winning two of the three matches. Sophomore Sofya Lifanove and Negreanu picked up the Mavs only doubles win of the day 8-3 over Vujosevic and Roxana Martinez at the No. 2 position.

The Mavs will be on the court again Sunday morning when they host SLC rival Stephen F. Austin for a 10 a.m. start.
