SAN MARCOS, Texas-- The UT Arlington women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in the Western Athletic Conference after defeating Texas State 4-2 on Thursday.
The Mavericks started the match by winning the doubles points, which allowed them to go into singles competition with a 1-0 lead over the Bobcats.
"We won the doubles point early on and the girls rolled with it," UT Arlington coach Marco Matteucci said. "I was very happy with the size of the fight we gave and at the tight moments the girls stayed composed and were able to come up on top."
"It was a good day and a good win for the girls and hopefully we can feed on it for the next matches and keep believing that we can achieve anything we put our mind to," Matteucci said.
The Mavericks will stay in San Marcos to face Seattle U in their third conference match Friday at 10 a.m.
