UTA WOMEN'S TENNIS WINS IN DOMINATING FASHION

ARLINGTON, Texas...The University of Texas at Arlington advanced its Southland Conference regular season winning streak to 46 straight matches as the Mavericks defeated Nicholls State 6-1 in a women's tennis match at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington Sunday. The Mavericks improved to 9-5 overall and 6-0 in the SLC this season, and have now won eight of their past nine matches.
The Mavericks continue to have just five healthy players, and were forced to forfeit matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, where they did not field a player. However, the Mavericks won the rest of the matches easily. UTA's top doubles team of Annemarie Lenze and Anete Rozkalne defeated NSU's Jennifer Rodriguez and Jennifer Hidalgo 8-2 and the Mavericks' No. 2 team of Ella Goldshuv and Jitka Vetrovcova defeated Monique Savoy and Dorion Robichoux 8-0.
The Mavericks allowed Nicholls State to win just two games in singles. Lenze defeated Rodriguez 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Gretel Hach defeated NSU's Jessica Archer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. The rest of the matches finished 6-0, 6-0 in favor or UTA players. Rozkalne defated Robichaux at No. 2 singles; Goldshuv defeated Hidalgo at No. 3 singles and Vetrovcova defeated Archer at No. 4 singles.
The Mavericks have not lost a regular season match in conference play since Texas-San Antonio defeated them in the final regular season match of the 1998 season.
UTA returns to action April 4 against Rice at the UTA Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
