SAN MARCOS, Texas-- The UT Arlington women's tennis team dropped its match 4-2 to the No. 73 San Jose State Spartans on Saturday.

The Mavericks fell to 4-9 overall and 3-2 in the Western Athletic Conference. With the win, the Spartans remain undefeated in league play at 4-0 and are 12-4 on the season.

"Overall it was a tight match," UT Arlington assistant coach Marco Matteucci said. "The girls came out fighting and left it all out on the court. We are looking forward to our next matches."

SJSU began the match with a doubles win after taking down the Mavericks' No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams.

Brooke Dennis and Elizabeth Thoms each won their singles play to give the Mavericks two points, but it wasn't enough as the Mavericks lost.

The Mavericks are back on the court Tuesday, as they host North Texas at the UTA Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
