Thibodaux, La.- The University of Texas at Arlington women's tennis squad claimed the Southland Conference regular season title after a 7-0 victory over Nicholls State Sunday afternoon. The Lady Mavericks improved to 14-4 overall and 9-0 in the SLC.

In doubles action, Jennifer Rodriguez and Veronika Ramirez were defeated 8-3 in the No. 1 match by Marketa Cizova and Daniela Novakova. The No. 2 spot saw Monika Pecuilionyte and Simri van Rooyen blanking Shamra Gray and Monique Savoy, 8-0 while Anete Rozkaine and Jitka Vetrovcone shutout Dorian Robichaux and Jordan Vaccarella, 8-0 in the final match.

In singles action, Rodriguez forced a tiebreaker against Pecuilionyte, but fell 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. Cizova dropped Ramirez 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 position while the No. 3 match had Novakova beating Gray 6-2, 6-0.

Texas-Arlington returns to action April 7 when it plays host to TCU for a 2 p.m. match at the UTA Tennis Center.
