ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlingtono women shut out undefeated Stephen F. Austin 4-0 Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Ladyjacks were 9-0 in the Southland Conference coming into Sunday's match and the Mavericks knew they could be the team to snap SFA's winning streak.
"We played very clean tennis today," UT Arlington head coach Diego Benitez said. "We played like the defending champions that we are.
"I'm so proud of all of our girls especially our seniors who gave it their all today in their last match at UTA Tennis Center."
The men also played Sunday as they faced off against the Rice Owls in Houston. The Mavericks fell 5-2 against Rice.
UTA struggled early against the Owls, losing the doubles point and headed into singles down 1-0.
The men and women will head to the Southland Conference tournament in two weeks in Nacogdoches.
