MESTEROVA STAYS PERFECT AT TOP SINGLES FLIGHT IN 6-1 LOSS AT #15 TULANE

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The 15th-ranked Green Wave women's tennis squad extended its winning streak to 12 matches with a 6-1 defeat of Texas-Arlington Sunday afternoon at the Goldring Tennis Center.
The Lady Mavericks close out the regular season with a 13-8 overall mark and head to this week's Southland Conference tournament as the top seed.
Tulane won the doubles point quickly to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The 34th-ranked duo of Julie Smekodub and Jenny Kuehn posted an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Dorottya Magas and Ana Saaibi recorded an 8-0 win at No. 3.
Freshman Pavla Mesterova was the lone Lady Maverick to record a singles win, dropping 118th-ranked Smekodub 6-1, 6-4 at the top singles flight. Mesterova is 18-0 at No. 1 singles.
UTA heads to this week's SLC tournament as the top seed after claiming its sixth regular season title in the past seven years. The Lady Mavericks will look to make their second straight trip to the NCAA tournament.
