SAN MAROCS, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team held on to win 4-3 over Texas State in both teams final match of the regular season on Saturday.
UTA (7-11, 6-5 SLC) started the match by winning two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles action.
With only five active players on the Mavericks roster, Texas State (10-10, 7-4) quickly found itself even at 1-1 after winning the sixth spot by default.
Freshmen, Monika Hadvigerova and Daiana Negreanu put UTA back on top winning their matches at the first and third spots respectively in straight sets. Hadvigerova won 6-1, 6-2 over Andrea Giraldo, while Negreanu downed Lainy Chafitz 6-4, 6-3.
In the No. 2 spot, sophomore Klara Jagosova, sealed the win for the Mavericks taking it three sets 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 with Ashley Ellis.
UTA awaits the results of other Southland Conference matches to determine its seeding at the upcoming conference tournament.
