ARLINGTON, Texas... The University of Texas at Arlington's women's tennis team saw its season come to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon when the Mavericks were ousted from the Southland Conference Tournament by Louisiana-Monroe. The second-seeded Lady Indians defeated the third-seeded Mavericks 4-0. UTA's season ends with a 12-9 overall record.

The Mavericks were playing without a full lineup, just as they have all season, as injuries have forced UTA to play without a No. 3 doubles team and a No. 6 singles player. The Mavericks needed to win both remaining doubles matches to get the doubles point, but were denied when ULM's Matilde Taborda and Veronica Perez defeated UTA's No. 2 team of Annemarie Lenze and Anete Rozkalne 8-0.

Leading 2-0 after winning the doubles point and the forfeit point at No. 6 singles, ULM needed to win just two singles matches. They accomplished their goal, as kelly Bucewicz handed Rozkalne a 6-3, 6-3 loss and Nataliya Ostrovska defeated Jitka Vetrovcova by an identical score.

Louisiana-Monroe will meet top seed Texas-San Antonio in the championship match Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
