LAWRENCE, Kansas - The UT Arlington women’s tennis team competed in the KU Invitational this week in Lawrence, Kansas.
The Mavericks are doing just what head coach Diego Benitez wants them to do in the fall season.
“It was a great tournament for our girls,” Benitez said. “We got to play a lot of matches and we got some great wins against tough opponents.
“It was especially positive to see our newcomers getting more comfortable competing day in and day out. They are getting better with each match”
Senior Giada D’Ortona stepped up big for the Mavs as she was able to make it to the final round of singles play. Freshman Katarina Dikosavljevic also competed well winning the back draws against two fierce competitors.
Dikosavljevic was joined by Elizabeth Thoms for doubles play and the two freshmen showed some promising competition as the duo went 2-2 at the tournament.
