Natal was one of two Maverick to reach the winner's bracket final of their respective flight, while UTA had success on the consolation side in both singles and doubles. Agustina Serio joined Natal in doubles and was able to bounce back from an opening-round loss to pick up two wins. The victories gave Serio her 61st-career doubles win, good for ninth in UTA history.
"It was a pretty solid tournament overall," UTA coach Diego Benitez said. "We had some good results out there with some really good play from tough conferences. Anna played a great match against a good player against Oklahoma, and today against Alabama it was a very physical match, the girl was a bit stronger. I am very proud of Lucia winning the first tournament that she has played. She joins Nanaka as two freshmen that have won the first tournament that they have played."
Natal's path to the Flight 9 win included victories over Oklahoma, Texas State and North Texas.
Anna Wichert picked up two wins before falling to the Crimson Tide on Sunday. Victories included matches against Texas State's Ana Perez and Simran Sethi from Oklahoma.
Klara Mrcela earned her first-career win versus Texas State's Joy Chia in Flight 7's consolation bracket. Mrcela also picked up a win in the opener in doubles, playing with Wichert. The pair fell in the second around against a tough opponent from SMU.
