HOUSTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team competed in the Rice Invitational in Houston this weekend.
Junior transfer Brooke Dennis proved that she will be a fierce competitor for the Mavericks this season. Dennis won her draws in Flight 5 singles and Flight 2 doubles at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
"We had a great tournament," UTA coach Diego Benitez said. "I am very proud of Brooke, who won both singles and doubles titles."
Dennis defeated Abilene Christian's Kaysie Hermsdorf to claim singles before teaming up with freshman Elizabeth Thoms in doubles to take down Rice's Danny Trigo Kim Anicete.
"I am happy to bring another titles home," Benitez said. "Lizzy and Brooke played great doubles, beating one of Rice's top teams in the finals. They both have great instinct for the game and are playing flawless doubles."
"All four players had great performances and we home to carry on this momentum to Regional in a couple of weeks," Benitez said.
The women will travel to Waco Sunday, October 21 as the Baylor hosts the Texas Regional.
