FORT WORTH, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Regional Championship hosted by TCU.
Angeles de los Rios completed her weekend with consolation bracket titles in both singles and doubles, finishing 8-2 in both events throughout the course of the tournament.
"Overall I am very happy with the performance," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "Our team put together another great tournament. I feel our confidence is high and that we are in a good place and looking forward to spring competition."
De los Rios was able to battle back in both events after being eliminated in the main draw in the first rounds. The freshman went 4-1 in singles and defeated Nicole Karaklis from UTSA 6-0, 6-0 in the consolation bracket final.
Teaming up with Astrid Gehre, the pair completed play also 4-1 in the tournament. Gehre and de los Rios defeated Makenzie Craft and Alex Leatu from Baylor, 6-4, in the finals.
In other action, Elizabeth Thoms advanced into the round of 32 with two wins to open the tournament. Thoms defeated Hanna Elving from Lamar and Ksenia Bardabush from UNT before falling to Texas Tech's Sam Adams.
Christine Foote battled into the quarterfinals of the consolation draw with wins over Emily Corad (ACU), Kayla Stevenson (SHSU) before a loss to UTSA's Karaklis.
Giada D'ortona found her way into the round of 16 in the consolation draw. D'Ortona defeated Agustina Valenzuela 6-1, 0-6, 13-11 before a loss to Micah Hermsdorf (ACU) ended her weekend.
