DENTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team wrapped up the fall season on a high note at Metroplex Mania hosted by North Texas.
The Mavericks finished 10-6 in singles, opening play with 10 consecutive wins to start the competion against area rivals that included TCU, UNT, Tyler Junior College, Colin County Community College and SMU.
"We went 14-0 overall on the first two days of competition and in day three we swept through doubles," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "It was a solid tournament to wrap up the fall."
In Friday's competition, UTA swept singles matches against North Texas and Colin County. On Saturday, the pattern continued with four matches in which UTA would sweep against competitors from TCU and Tyler Junior College.
Sunday was less friendly to the Mavs as UTA took on SMU. However, despite the 0-6 record on the day, UTA was competitive in each. Four of the six matches would extend to three sets.
In doubles, UTA was 4-5, bouncing back from a 0-4 start to begin play. The Mavericks were 5-2 in the final two days of doubles competition.
