ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women's tennis opens its home season with a match against Midwestern State Saturday at UTA Tennis Center Saturday at 10 a.m.

"We are looking forward to our home opener," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "The women are eager to play in front of their home crowd."

The women have had 13 days off after a 5-2 loss to No. 30 TCU on Jan. 18 in Fort Worth to open the 2014 season.

This will be the first match of the season for the Mustangs, as well as the first match between UTA and MSU.

Two freshmen, Astrid Gehre and Jessica Birowski, stepped up against TCU at the No. 4 and 5 positions, and Benitez expects his team to continue to compete well.

"We had a good week of practice and we need to stay consistent with our fundamentals. I expect a very competitive match and I feel like we are ready to play," Benitez said.
