ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women’s tennis begins its 2013 season Sunday, Feb. 3 versus Old Dominion at 10 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion are 4-0 on the season and will face No. 38 TCU and No. 54 North Texas before traveling to Arlington to face the Mavericks.
Old Dominion is a member of Conference USA and has three players with unblemished records this season: No. 3 Ivana Vukovik, No. 5 Melissa Esnal Olguin and No. 6 Nika Khmolovska.
UT Arlington is looking to start the 2013 season with a victory. The team is led by captain and junior Gaida D’Ortona, who competed primarily in the No. 4 position last season.
Sophomore Verena Scott is expected to make an impact for the Mavs this season after competing at the No. 2 position in most of last season’s matches.
This is the third meeting between the two schools, with the series between the Mavericks and the Lady Monarchs tied 1-1.
First serve is at 10 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
