ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women’s tennis hosts in-state rival UTSA Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
“We’ve had several days off and we’re ready to be on the court again,” UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. “This is a great rivalry for us. We play UTSA every year and it’s always a great match and really competitive.”
The women have not played since Feb. 17 at Wichita State, losing 4-0. With that loss, the Mavericks dropped to an even 4-4 overall and have only lost one home match (4-1).
Benitez expects sophomore Elizabeth Thoms and senior Giada D'Ortona to lead the Mavericks against the Roadrunners.
“I expect Lizy and Giada to really step up for us this week. They’ll be playing at the top of the lineup for us and they’ve played well early so I expect them to continue to play hard for us,” Benitez said.
First serve is set for 1 p.m.
