ARLINGTON, Texas - For the second week in a row, UT Arlington tennis was in the Sun Belt spotlight, this week it was Agustina Serio claiming the league's Player of the Week honors.
Serio was nearly perfect for the week, going 3-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles and leaving one doubles match unfinished despite having the lead in the tiebreak. At the No. 1 spot in singles, Serio picked up straight-set wins over UTEP's Lois Wagenvoort (6-1, 6-2), Wyoming's Magdalena Stencel (6-1, 7-5) and New Mexico State's Vanessa Valdez (6-4, 6-4). Her singles win the New Mexico State match clinched the victory for the Mavericks.
For the spring season, Serio is 4-0 in singles and 2-3 in doubles. UTA returns back to the UTA Tennis Center on March 13 when it begins a two-match league pod with Georgia State and Troy. Action gets underway on the 13th with Georgia State at 2 p.m. and Troy the following day at the same start time.
