Mavericks Remain Perfect in Conference

Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team recorded a pair of conference victories this past weekend over UTSA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The wins improved the Mavs to 4-3 overall and 4-0 in conference action. "The girls keep going out there playing like champions, we might lose a match here and there but the overall confidence is high," said assistant women's tennis coach Marco Matteucci. "Our doubles this year has been the key to our success in conference, along with the belief that we can win another Southland Conference Championship."
UT Arlington 6, UTSA 1 Against UTSA, the Mavericks notched a 6-1 win collecting the doubles point and five of the six singles flights. Monika Hadvigerova and Katarina Mlcochova took care of the No. 2 doubles match, recording an easy 8-1 win. Nikola Matovicova and Maria Martinez-Romer handed Kavya Menon and Mariel Maffezzolli an 8-4 setback in the No. 3 position. Klara Jagosova led singles action with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Micaela Silva in the No. 1 flight.
UT Arlington 4, A&M-Corpus Christi 1
The Mavericks clinched four of the five singles flights. Jagosova, Hadvigerova, Martinez-Romer and Matovicova all earned victories.
Conference play continues for the Mavericks as they travel to Texas State on Saturday, March 13. Game time is set for 1 pm. |
