ARLINGTON, Texas - The No. 59 UT Arlington women's tennis had an outstanding weekend in conference play, sweeping both Texas State and UTSA 7-0.
Both matches were dominated by the Mavs, winning all three doubles matches and recording straight set wins in every singles match.
Junior Maria Martinez-Romero leads the women with a 14-1 in singles mark and a 13-2 record in doubles with Nikola Matovicova and Katarina Mlcochova. Martinez-Romero, Linda Aqvist, Giada D'ortona and Daiana Negreanu all are 6-0 in conference action.
The Mavericks continue league play this weekend when they travel to the McAdams Tennis Complex in Huntsville, Texas to face Sam Houston State (6-4) on Saturday, April 2. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
The following day the Mavs head to Nacogdoches to face Stephen F. Austin (14-1) at the Schlief Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 11 a.m. as well.
The women's team leads the Southland with a perfect 6-0 record. So far this season, the Mavs have recorded three shutout wins against their SLC opponents.
