MAVERICKS SECURE 7-0 WIN OVER ROADRUNNERS IN FINAL CONFERENCE GAME

Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-0 victory over the Roadrunners of UTSA on Saturday, April 11 at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas. UTA finished conference action with an 11-0 record and a 14-6 overall mark.

"Today was the final exclamation point to a season full of accomplishments," said head women's coach Diego Benitez. "The girls feel proud of what they have done, writing another passage on the record book with an undefeated season. However, they understand there is a big objective to fight for when we travel down to Corpus for the Southland Conference Tournament"

In grand fashion, the Mavs recorded all three doubles matches and all six singles matches against the Roadrunners.

In the No. 1 position, Klara Jagosova and Daiana Negreanu handed Karen Scida and Micaela Silva an 8-4 setback while Maria Martinez-Romer and Nikola Matovicova recorded an 8-4 victory against Monika Drabkova and Caroline Dedering.

Nathalie Wallin and Holly Phillips notched a win over Monika Hadvigerova and Katarina Micochova, with a 9-8 score.

Hadvigerova picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Scida in the No.1 position while Negreanu won the No. 2 match over Wallin, with a final score of 6-4, 4-6, and 10-4.

Jagosova recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win against Phillips in the No. 3 spot while Micochova won a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Drabkova in the No. 4 position.

Martinez-Romer won her 16th consecutive singles match after she posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Dedering in the No. 5 spot while Matovicova collected a 6-2, 4-6, and 7-6 win over Silva in the No. 6 position.

 

 

The Mavs return to the courts on Friday, April 24 in Corpus Christi, Texas for the Southland Conference Tournament. Opponent and time for round one is still to be determined.
