MAVERICKS ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH, RECORD WINS OVER SFA AND NORTHWESTERN STATE

Corpus Christi, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington women's tennis team advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament Championship tomorrow where they will match-up against UTSA at 3 p.m. at the HEB Tennis Courts.
UT Arlington 4, Stephen F. Austin 1
UTA easily won the doubles point after capturing all three matches.
Klara Jagosova and Daiana Negreanu led the Mavs with an 8-3 win over Alina Shazkho and Roxana Enica in the top flight while freshmen's Maria Martinez-Romer and Nicola Matovivoa followed with an 8-3 victory over Tatiana Smolnikova and Gabriela Gadeva in the No. 2 position.
With a 1-0 advantage over the Lady Jacks, the Mavericks dominated singles play, winning all but one flight.
Hadvigerova defeated Shazkho in the top flight with scores of 6-4, 4-5, unfinished while Enica handed Negreanu a 6-1, 6-1 setback in the No. 2 position.
In the third flight, Jagosova recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win over Gadeva while Micochova notched a 6-3, 3-4, unfinished against Kapur in the No. 4 position.
Martinez-Romer posted a 6-3, 6-0 win over Smolnikova in the No. 5 spot while Matovivoa won the No. 5 match by defeating Williams, 6-0, 6-0.

"We knew it was going to be a challenge," said head women's tennis coach Diego Benitez. "I am glad the girls stepped up they know what our goals are and are one step closer. "We said we were going to take it one match at a time and now we just have to get ready for tomorrow."
The Mavericks started the day with doubles action where they recorded the match point. UTA collected wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions but dropped the top flight.
Olga Bazhanova and Dragana Colic record an 8-1 win over Jagosova and Negreanu in the No.1 spot while Martinez-Romer and Matovivoa notched an 8-4 victory against Kathrin Lange and Bianca Schulz in the second flight.
Hadvigerova and Micochova won the No. 3 match against Adna Curukovic and Daniela Posada with a score of 9-7.
In singles action, Hadvigerova defeated Curukovic, 5-7, 3-5, unfinished in the top flight while Negreanu handed Bazhanova 6-4, 5-1, unfinished loss in the No. 2 position.
Jagosova collected a 7-5, 6-0 win over Lange in the third flight while Micochova won the No. 4 flight against Schulz with scores of 6-3, 1-6, 1-2, unfinished.
Martinez-Romer defeated Posada, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot in the lineup while Matovivoa posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Colic in the sixth flight.
Tennis action resumes tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the HEB Tennis Courts in Corpus Christi, Texas.
