UTA women's tennis heads crosstown on Interstate 35 to take part in Metroplex Mania beginning on Friday at the SMU Tennis Complex in Dallas.

A strong squad will represent the Mavericks in the three-day tournament, featuring Nanaka Takeuchi and Lucia Natal who both won tournaments during the fall slate thus far. Joining the pair will be Carla Cerdan Vives and Klara Mrcela.

"We are excited to head to Dallas for what has been a great tournament over the years," UTA coach Diego Benitez said. "The Texas Region always has great competition for our teams and this weekend will be no exception. I am excited to see the ladies return to the court this weekend at SMU."

Takeuchi opened up her UTA career in style with a 4-0 record on the way to the Flight 2 singles title at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in September. Her run featured wins over opponents from Texas State, Abilene Christian and Nebraska. Natal was equally impressive at the Rice Invitational to close out September with a run through Flight 9 that saw her top individuals from Oklahoma, Texas State and North Texas.

The Mavs have had recent success at SMU as former Maverick Jessica Birowski won her flight at the event last season as well as winning a consolation doubles title.

This weekend is the final schedule tune-up for the squad ahead of the ITA Texas Regional beginning on Oct. 13, hosted by TCU.
