COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas-Arlington's Gretel Hach, Pavla Mesterova and Anete Rozkalne each advanced to the round of 16 to highlight the Lady Mavericks play at the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championships held in College Station.

Mesterova opened play with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 win over Houston's Kami Miller before dropping Texas' Courtney Zauft 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 to advance. After winning the first set 6-1 in the round of 16, Mesterova fell to Rice's Blair Disesa, 6-1, 6-2.

In the singles qualifying round, third seeded Anete Rozkalne opened play dropping Holly Lee of North Texas, 6-0, 6-3 and moving on to earn a come-from-behind victory over Lamar's Hayley Bakker, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1. Rozkalne took the first set from SMU's Allison Leuszier 6-4 but couldn't hold on as Leuszier closed it out with back-to-back 6-3 clips.

In other qualifying action senior Gretel Hach dropped fourth seeded Jana Cucciniello of Texas State 6-2, 6-3 and earned a straight-set win over Northwestern State's Camila Prado to advance into the round of 16. Houston's Sacha Gumbs dropped Hach 6-4, 7-6 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Hach paired with Daniela Novakova in doubles action while Mesterova and Rozkalne also teamed up for the Lady Mavs.

Ninth seeded Mesterova/Rozkalne fell in the opening round 8-6 to Texas State's Klemenc/Muller. Hach and Novakova opened with a win over sixth seeded Kuhn/Magas of Tulane, 9-8 (6). The tandem went on to defeat UTSA's Hasking/Martinez, 8-3 before falling to Southeastern Louisiana's Puflervoa/Kovac, 9-7.

The Lady Mavericks will close out fall action November 5 at the Houston Invitational.
