FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The UT Arlington men's and women's track and field teams finished their first day at the Razorback Invitational with some strong finishes field events and distance runs that were contested.

The Mavericks had three of the top 10 finishers in the men's pole vault as junior Jared Tuel won the event with a vault of 4.90 meters (16-00.75 feet). That mark was a personal indoor best for him.

He was followed by junior Wade Hayes who finished in fourth at 4.80 meters (15-9 feet) and Cory Carswell who was 10th at 4.50 meters (14-9 feet).

Andrew Duncan finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 2.05 meters (6-08.75 feet). He was followed by Aldophus Jones who finished in sixth at the same height. Sprinters Cordero Gray and Jarid Vaughn slipped some from their marks of last weekend. Gray was 17th in the 200 meters (21.99) while Vaughn was 21st with a time of 22.03.

The top women's finisher on the day was sophomore Lydia Chebii who finished ninth in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:31.79.

In the women's 200 meters, Antonia Hopkins was 21st at 25.08 and Clarissa Toomer was 30th at 25.36.

The meet concludes tomorrow Saturday, January 24.
