TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS HEAD TO HOUSTON INVITATIONAL

ARLINGTON, Tx. - The UT Arlington track and field teams return to action this weekend, as they travel south once again to the 2009 Houston Indoor Invitational at the Yoeman Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Houston.
The two-day meet starts at noon on Friday and continues on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
Friday's schedule includes many of the track and field events for the heptathlon and pentathlon as well as the men's and women's weight throw and the women's pole vault.
The action continues on Saturday, with the conclusion of the heptathlon and the pentathlon as well as the majority of the running and field events. Other schools participating in the meet are Rice, Southern Miss, UTSA, Texas Christian, HBU, Texas Southern, Houston, UT-Pan American, Prairie View A&M, Northwestern State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas State, Lamar, McNeese State, Sam Houston State, Nicholls State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas Lutheran, among others.

Idilio Campos was the top UTA finisher last week at the Razorback Invitational as he posted his first win of the 2009 indoor season as he won the one mile race in a time of 4:13.18. Teammate Ozie Hood finished fourth in the race with a time of 4:16.41. Sprinter Cordero Gray finished seventh in the 60 meters final with a time of 6.91. That was his second consecutive top 8 finish in the event.
On the women's side, the top finisher was junior Caroline Erlingson who finished fourth in the one mile run with a time of 5:11.38. Jennifer Carey also earned a fourth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.97.
