BOSTON, Mass. - UT Arlington Assistant Track and Field Coach Mishael Bertrand-Berger clocked a season-best time of 2-minutes, 04.58-seconds to place third at the 2007 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center here Sunday afternoon.
The finish was Berger's best in a national competition. She clocked a time of 2:03.87 at the 2005 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but finished sixth in the semifinals.
Bertrand-Berger is in her third season as an assistant coach working with the team's quarter milers and middle-distance athletes.
The NCAA Indoor All-American was a member of 10 UT Arlington teams that won Southland Conference championships between 1999 and 2001. She is the school record holder in the 800 meters, both indoor and outdoor. She earned All-American honors in the 800 meters at the 2000 NCAA Indoor Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the outdoor season in 2000.
The Pottsboro, Texas native captured six individual conference titles in the 800 meters and was a member of three relay teams that won SLC championships.
Nikeya Green won the national title Sunday with the top 800-meter time in the United States this season, a 2:02.69.
