T&F: UT Arlington athletes ready for Texas Relays

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The UT Arlington men’s and women’s track and field teams had 29 athletes accepted into the field for the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The Mavericks will be competing Wednesday through Saturday at the historic Austin event at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

A total of 15 men will be competing in 12 events, eight individual events and four relays, for the Mavericks. Headlining the group is Clayton Vaughn, an All-American in the 60 meters in the indoor season. He will be competing in the 100-meter dash as well as on the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.

Others competing in three events include: Quentin Butler (100m, 4x100, 4x200), Emil Blomberg (1500m, 4x800, distance medley) and Anthony Hilliman (1500m, 4x800, distance medley).

In addition, All-American Romain Martin will be competing in the decathlon Wednesday and Thursday.

Fourteen women from UTA qualified for entry into the meet. The women’s entrants include three individual events and five relays.

The five three-event qualifiers from UT Arlington are: Shannon Reynolds (100m, 4x100 relay, 1600 sprint medley relay), Keondra Mallard (100m, 4x100 relay, 1600 sprint medley relay), DeAndrea Smith (4x400 relay, 1600 sprint medley relay and distance medley relay), Ashly Wright (4x400 relay, 4x800 relay and distance medley) and Lindsey Putman (4x800 relay, 1600 sprint medley relay, distance medley relay).
