HAGLUND SHINES AT TEXAS RELAYS
April 3, 2004
UTA senior distance runner Kasja Haglund continued her storied career with a season-best time of 4:24.30 to claim second place in the University women's 1,500 meters at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays completed Saturday at the Mike Myers Track Stadium here.
Haglund's time now qualifies her in the 800 meters and the 1,500 meters in the upcoming NCAA regionals in May. She posted a region-qualifying time of 2:10.52 in the 800 meters last week at the Arlington Invitational.
Brittany Williams clocked the sixth best time in Heat 4 of the women's 100 meter prelims with an 12.31.
Freshman Tiffanie Reeves (Olney, Texas) took second place in Flight 1 of the women's shot put with a put of 46-feet, 5.25-inches.
Those who did not compete at the Texas Relays competed at the Tarleton College Relays in Stephenville on April 1.
Tara Burns won the women's open long jump with a leap of 19-02.00. Fourth-place finishes went to Vanessa Maida (10-05.5) in the women's pole vault and Randee Wales (18-01.75) in the long jump. Katie Godfrey took third place in the women's discus with a toss of 120-05 and Crystal Thompson finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 59.81.
