WACO, Texas - Sophomore Ivorita Taylor (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) turned in her top time of the spring semester to win the 800 meter run at the 2004 Michael Johnson Classic Meet at the Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex here, April 17.
Taylor posted the Lady Mavs only win at the meet. Seneior middle distance runner Miranda Zuniga (Diana, Texas) took second place in the women's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:50.08.
A number of student-athletes turned in season-best efforts as they continue to work towards the 2004 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 15-17 in San Marcos, Texas.
Freshman Tiffanie Reeves (Olney, Texas) finished third in the shot put with a put of 46-feet, 02.5-inches and a fourth-place finish by Candeese Cawley in the triple jump with a leap of 39-feet, 1.75-inches.
Among those posting season-best efforts include: Kourtnee Jones (100 meters/12:09), Camille Duckett (200 meters/24.42), Kourtnee Jones (200 meters/24.33), Jennifer Jones (200 meters, 27.21), Crystal Thompson (400 meters, 59.03), Kristina Bird (800 meters/2:18.86),, Tara Burns (100-meter hurdles/15.11) Zizan Seymore (high jump/5-06), Katie Godfrey (shot put/39-07), Linda Rosema (discus/124-04) and Lacey Moore (pole vault/10-00).
Both men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the prestigious Drake Relays, April 23-24.
